Donating through eBay is as easy as ABC...
A.
When you list an item you can choose to donate from 10% to 100% of the final price (currently minimum donation £1)
B.
Then when the item is sold, a percentage of the sale price is donated to Life Education Wessex and you receive the remainder (unless donating 100% of course!)
C.
And don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box if you’re a UK tax payer. This will give us an extra 25p from the government on top of your donation.
Listings which donate a share of the final sale price to us will show the yellow and blue eBay ribbon next to them in search results and our charity’s mission statement and logo will also show in your listing. Your items will also get extra visibility through the eBay for Charity pages.
And that’s not all – eBay will waive some of your insertion fee charges and final value charges equal to the percentage you donate. So if you donate 50% of your selling price to Life Education Wessex then eBay will waive 50% of your fees!
To choose Life Education Wessex go to LEW at eBay and click on ‘Save as Favourite’. The charity details will then automatically appear each time you sell an item. You can select how much you wish to donate (0 – 100%). For further information on selling for charity, go to eBay for Charity.
Not yet an ebay seller?
To sell on eBay :
-
You’ll need to set up an eBay account
-
Set up a PayPal account so that you can accept payments this way (you’ll lose potential sales if you don’t have one)
-
Choose Life Education Wessex as your chosen charity - LEW at eBay.
Selling an item on eBay costs only a few pence to insert the sale item, then there’s a sliding scale of fees based on the final sale price (don’t forget discount for donors!). Paypal will also charge a small amount for collecting fees.

Harold, the giraffe, is used during our sessions to encourage healthy and happy lifestyle choices in children aged 3-13 years.
Do absolutely anything to raise funds for us - as long as it's ACTIVE, HEALTHY & FUN! - bike, swim, golf, run, cook, bake etc, Whether you create your own event or support us at a pre-organised event we would love to hear from you!
Harold is now trying to encourage EVERYONE to be just as happy and healthy as the children he visits. We have tons of ideas - see our A to Z List - or contact us today.
Ambassadors and Friends
Ambassadors and Friends are our eyes, ears and supporters on the ground, they are people with a keen interest in helping their local schools and communities recognise the need for Life Education and embrace and promote it as a service that can help to prevent a community problem.
There is a recognised need for Life Education and it is an excellent resource for schools, but few people know that we are a charity. Ambassadors and Friends can help us to spread the word about what we do and how it can benefit local children and the wider community and raise funds to help us deliver the service.
Here are just some of the ways in which you can help:
-
‘Spread the word’ - talk to family, friends, colleagues and teachers about our work
-
Provide leads and introductions to local schools that may be interested in a visit and companies and charitable trusts that may be able to support us
-
Collecting cheques on our behalf
-
Delivering or collecting supplies and equipment
-
Organise a fundraising event, from a simple coffee morning to an elaborate ball
-
Encourage individuals, organisations or companies to make a donation
-
Encourage local clubs and societies to consider making us a beneficiary of concerts, fetes or other events
-
Encourage people to do a sponsored challenge
-
Encourage people to use easyfundraising and easysearch
-
Sell Zippyzzz (zip tags)

Some more practical ways in which you can help are:
-
Providing a gift-in-kind service such as printing
-
Being ‘an extra pair of eyes’ when towers are delivering mobile classrooms to difficult or new school sites
-
Carrying out minor repairs to classrooms
-
Finding volunteers to help at events

If you would like to join one of our local groups, set one up in your area or just want to find out more about how you could help us raise our profile and funds in your local area, in the first instance please contact our office on 01258 837417.
Remember us in your will
Please consider remembering Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley in your will and help us to continue our work helping to keep young children happy, healthy and safe.
Donating through your Will is a great way to give. A legacy does not get taxed so every penny comes straight to the charity. It can also reduce inheritance tax because the taxable value of your estate is calculated after charitable bequests are made.
There are three main ways that you can leave us a gift in your will:
-
A specific named item, for example a piece of jewellery
-
A fixed amount – known as a pecuniary gift. Please remember that the value of this gift will decrease over the years due to increases in the cost of living
-
A residuary gift – this will be paid out once your family and friends, together with any taxes and costs relating to your estate, have been taken care of

Please ensure that you specify that you are leaving your gift to ‘Life Education Wessex, Registered Charity Number 1071094 ’.
To find out more about leaving a gift, please speak to your solicitor.
